SunSense Daycare Program

Exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) during childhood is an important contributing factor to developing skin cancer later in life.

Daycares can provide children with protection from UVR by creating sun safe environments that include implementing sun safety policies, educating parents, caregivers and staff about best practices to reduce UV exposure, and providing shade in areas where children play. Teaching children sun safety habits early on will help to protect them throughout their life.

SunSense for Daycares provides free tools and resources to daycares to support them with policy, education, and enhancement of shade.

SunSense for Daycares has been developed in partnership by the Canadian Cancer Society and Melanoma Canada.
